The winds of change might be blowing elsewhere in the NHL, but it seems like Philadelphia Flyers fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
During a Wednesday morning interview with Sirius XM NHL Network Radio, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman indicated that John Tortorella is expected to stay behind the bench in Philadelphia.
Is John Tortorella Staying with the Flyers?
Friedman highlighted the fiery coach’s role in fostering the growth of Philly’s young talent this season. The Flyers organization clearly sees Tortorella as a pivotal element in their rebuild and isn’t entertaining thoughts of his departure. Of course, the final say remains with Tortorella, but the sentiment seems to be mutual.
“Flyers management have made it very clear that they think Tortorella is a big part of it, and he’s staying, so that’s what I expect unless, for any reason, Tortorella doesn’t want to, which I don’t believe is the case,” Friedman commented.
With Tortorella’s position seemingly settled, Flyers fans can focus their attention on other offseason moves and look forward to the team’s continued development.
