- Montreal Canadiens receive: Matyas Sapovaliv, 2025 second-round pick, 2026 fifth-round pick.
This deal makes sense for both sides. Vegas gets a proven NHL center to solidify their bottom-six, while Montreal acquires a promising young prospect in Sapovaliv and adds valuable draft capital. Sapovaliv, a 6’4″ center, was drafted in the second round (48th overall) in 2022 and is currently playing well in the AHL.
However, the Golden Knights aren’t the only team reportedly interested in Evans. The Colorado Avalanche are also rumored to be in the market for a third-line center, and Evans could be a good fit for their system.
