Boston Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk is playing out the final season of his two-year contract. Though GM Don Sweeney is expected to continue negotiations with DeBrusk’s representatives, there’s a growing sense the winger will be testing unrestricted free agency on July 1.
DeBrusk, 27, is on pace for another strong season with the Bruins. He’s an integral part of Boston’s offensive attack and a strong postseason outing could see him commanding a hefty salary increase. Whether or not that new contract comes from the Bruins remains to be seen.
DeBrusk famously requested a trade in November 2021. However, he rescinded that request and has since thrived in Boston with back-to-back impressive seasons. Now, the power forward has the chance to dictate his future and maximize his earnings.
