NHL trade rumors for April 8, 2022 feature the Boston Bruins deciding if they will trade Jake DeBrusk in the offseason?

Last offseason NHL trade rumors circulated that Jake DeBrusk wanted to be traded out of Boston but the Bruins could not find the right deal to make a trade.

Once the NHL trade deadline arrived, the Bruins went and signed DeBrusk to a two-year contract extension. Most NHL analysts figured signing DeBrusk to an extension would have made a trade easier at the deadline or in the offseason because he was under contract.

Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports DeBrusk, 25, is on pace to score 25 goals this season and the Bruins organization will have no desire to trade him in the offseason.

Shinzawa went on to say, with the way DeBrusk has played and if DeBrusk still seeks a trade, GM Don Sweeney will set the price higher than he did ahead of the trade deadline because of how well DeBrusk has performed.

The Vancouver Canucks have been tied to a Debrusk trade since last offseason. It will be interesting to see if they revisit this trade this summer?

DeBrusk was drafted 14th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1st round of the 2015 entry draft. Currently he has a total 168 points in 309 games played, and 26 playoffs points in 59 games played.
