Dixon’s report suggests that the Stars, determined to make a serious run for the Stanley Cup this year, are willing to part with promising young forward Mavrik Bourque to acquire Andersson’s services. This proposed move aligns with Dallas’ apparent strategy of leveraging their depth up front to address a need on the right side of their blue line.
Andersson, 27, is a proven top-four defenseman with a solid track record in the NHL. His ability to contribute in all situations, coupled with his reasonable $4.55 million cap hit through the 2025-26 season, makes him an attractive target for any contender. While Andersson does have a six-team no-trade clause, the allure of joining a Stanley Cup contender like Dallas might be enough to sway him.
