The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly interested in signing free-agent forward Tyler Toffoli. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the Canucks' continued interest after failing to acquire Toffoli at the trade deadline.

The Vancouver Canucks appear poised to reignite their pursuit of forward Tyler Toffoli as NHL free agency looms.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman on his “32 Thoughts” podcast, the Canucks have a keen interest in signing Toffoli when free agency opens on July 1st.

Canucks Reignite Interest in Tyler Toffoli after Trade Deadline Pursuit

This renewed interest comes after the Canucks made a run at Toffoli at the NHL trade deadline. However, Vancouver was ultimately unwilling to meet the New Jersey Devils’ asking price, leading Toffoli to be traded to the Winnipeg Jets instead.

Toffoli, a versatile forward known for his scoring touch and playoff experience, had a productive season in 2023-24, tallying 33 goals and 55 points in 79 games. His ability to play both wings and contribute on the power play would make him a valuable addition to the Canucks’ lineup.

The Canucks, seeking to bolster their offense and add a proven scorer, see Toffoli as an ideal fit. His familiarity with the organization, having previously played in Vancouver during the 2019-20 season, could further facilitate a potential reunion.

While the Canucks face competition from other suitors, their early interest and prior pursuit of Toffoli may give them an edge in negotiations. If Vancouver can secure Toffoli’s signature, it would represent a significant offseason acquisition and bolster their chances of Stanley Cup contention.
