What type of deal will Brady Tkachuk sign with the Ottawa Senators? Will it be a short-term bridge deal or an 8-year long-term contract?
What type of deal will Brady Tkachuk sign with the Ottawa Senators? Will it be a short-term bridge deal or an 8-year long-term contract?

With Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes expected to be signed very soon with Darren Dreger reporting the term for Hughes is 6 years and the term for Pettersson is 3 years. The two sides are still grinding on the final details before signing off on exact aav for each.

It has been reported that the Ottawa Senators have offered Brady Tkachuk an eight-year x $8 million per year deal. The issue seems to be that Tkachuk wants signing bonus pay which the Senators normally do not offer as part of the contract.

Dreger was on TSN 1050 radio this morning and stated Tkachuk might be waiting to see what Pettersson’s final deal is and use that as a comparable. Tkachuk might prefer a shorter term bridge deal, then go for the big pay day in 3 years.

With the NHL season starting in less than two weeks, the Sens would like to have Tkachuk signed and the preference is to a long-term deal rather than a short-term bridge deal.
