Boston Bruins trade rumors Linus Ullmark
Bruins consider trading Ullmark. Could this open the door for a Noah Hanifin deal? Get the latest trade rumors here.

The Boston Bruins are gearing up for the playoffs and with the NHL trade deadline rapidly approaching, NHL rumors are swirling about a massive shakeup in the crease. NHL insider Darren Dreger recently confirmed that the Bruins could explore trading star goaltender Linus Ullmark for the right price.

Why would Boston make such a bold move? Two reasons: cap space and a coveted upgrade on defense. Trading Ullmark would free up roughly $5 million in cap space and could potentially net them a highly sought-after 2024 first-round draft pick.

Bruins Eyeing Blockbuster Deal – Ullmark Trade Opens Door for Hanifin?

That pick, along with Ullmark’s departure, could be the key to landing Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin. Mutual interest between Hanifin and the Bruins is well-documented, with the talented blueliner reportedly keen on joining Boston’s powerhouse squad. Adding Hanifin would bolster an already-stellar Bruins defense corps, making them an even more formidable Stanley Cup contender.

Of course, trading a Vezina goalie like Ullmark presents risks. The Bruins would need extreme confidence in Jeremy Swayman’s ability to fully step into the starter role. But the potential reward – elite defensive depth and additional assets for future moves – may outweigh those concerns for GM Don Sweeney.
