Claude Julien has been fired as head coach of the Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins have fired head coach Claude Julien.

Julien was hired as the 27th coach in team history in 2007 and was in his tenth season behind the bench for the Bruins.

Claude Julien was informed this morning he was being relieved.

Julien has this year and next left on his contract paying him $2.5 million this season and $3 million next year.

Julien won the Jack Adams Trophy as the league’s best coach in 2008-09 when the Bruins posted a 53-19-10 record and in 2013-14, he helped them win the Presidents’ Trophy as the best regular season team with 117 points.

  1. If Doug Weight is serious about not having interest in coaching long-term for the Islanders then Garth Snow needs to make the call. Julien and his Cup winning experience plus excellent Corsi numbers are exactly what the Isles need.
