The Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators are reportedly in trade talks for defenseman Jakob Chychrun. The deal could send Ross Colton and a first-round pick to Ottawa.

The NHL trade rumor mill is churning at full speed, and the latest buzz has the Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators engaged in discussions surrounding a potential blockbuster trade for defenseman Jakob Chychrun.

NHL rumors suggest that the Avalanche are prepared to part ways with forward Ross Colton and their 2024 first-round draft pick in exchange for the blueliner. While no deal has been finalized, both sides appear motivated to make it happen.

Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators in Trade Talks for Jakob Chychrun

Chychrun, 26, has long been considered one of the most promising young defensemen in the league. His combination of size, skating ability, and offensive instincts makes him an attractive target for any team looking to bolster their blue line. The Avalanche, known for their high-octane offense, would undoubtedly benefit from Chychrun’s presence on the back end.

For the Senators, acquiring Colton would address a pressing need for a gritty, reliable forward in their bottom six. Colton, a Stanley Cup champion with the Tampa Bay Lightning, brings valuable experience and a relentless work ethic to the table. His leadership qualities and winning pedigree would be a welcome addition to a young Senators team looking to establish itself as a contender.

The inclusion of a first-round pick in the deal would also provide the Senators with a valuable asset to further their rebuild. With several promising prospects already in their system, the additional draft capital could accelerate their path back to contention.

While the trade is far from a done deal, the potential ramifications for both teams are significant. For the Avalanche, acquiring Chychrun would solidify their status as a Stanley Cup favorite for next season. For the Senators, the deal would represent a major step forward in their ongoing rebuild.

  1. I think Ottawa should go for Colton and instead of a first round pick try and get 6 foot 3 right hand shot defenseman Josh manson in the deal .
