Now that the Edmonton Oilers have won the 2015 NHL Draft Lottery. The Oilers will now look to build a Stanley Cup contender. They have offence but no defence. The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to trade Dion Phaneuf. Would the Oilers make a trade for Phaneuf and send Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to the Leafs?
Phaneuf makes $7 million / year and Nugent-Hopkins makes $6 million, the dollars make sense for both teams. The Oilers might want the Leafs second 1st round pick from Nashville to complete a deal. This potential trade would help both teams out.
The Leafs covet Dylan Strome in the Entry draft but if the Arizona Coyotes draft Strome, will the Leafs take Noah Hanifin, Lawson Crouse or scoring dynamo Mitch Marner? The Leafs re-build might happen a little quicker is they can pull off a Nugent-Hopkins trade.
We all will have to wait for NHL draft day, but you can be sure the Leafs will be looking to make some big moves at the 2015 NHL entry draft.
