- The Colorado Avalanche (No. 1) and Florida Panthers (No. 2) have already said they could move their picks for the right price. The Nashville Predators at No. 4 are keeping their options open on trading the draft pick.
- The Edmonton Oilers are looking to move back in the draft and add a player or a few more picks and  they are in discussions with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Oilers draft at No. 7 with the Blue Jackets holding the No.14.
- Players the Oilers could look at are –Â R.J. Umberger, Ryan Johansen, Boone Jenner, James Wisniewski, Fedor Tyutin and Nikita Nikitin.
- Rumors are going around that Joe Thornton could be traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- The Ottawa Senators are going after forward Bobby Ryan. The trade could cost the Senators Jared Cowen and maybe Mika Zibanejad.
- Compliance buyouts may lead to Brad Richards or Vincent Lecavalier becoming free agents and better bargains for the Leafs looking to fill a #1 center role at a cheap price.
