Dylan Cozens is quickly establishing himself as one of the core pieces of the Buffalo Sabres’ future. Selected 7th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft, Cozens has demonstrated tremendous growth, and his all-around game continues to evolve at the NHL level.

Strengths:
Cozens’ greatest asset is his skating ability. Standing 6’3″ and weighing 195 lbs, he combines size with speed, making him a difficult player to contain. His skating enables him to play a high-tempo game, creating offensive chances for both himself and his teammates. Cozens also possesses a powerful shot with a quick release, which allows him to be a dual threat in scoring and playmaking. Additionally, he’s known for his leadership qualities and has a strong two-way game, consistently helping out defensively while also generating offense.

Weaknesses:
Though Cozens has become more consistent offensively, there is still room for improvement in his puck-handling and decision-making under pressure. He has had streaky performances in the past, and fine-tuning his play in high-stakes moments could elevate him to elite status. Additionally, he needs to improve his ability to finish plays at the NHL level, converting more of his chances.
