  1. Why is it that DRW give a #1 and #2 and a younger replacement – for an old, overpaid player, who a lot of guys are saying is a disrupter? Compher and a #2. The End!

  2. Lol, no wonder Vancouver won’t complete that deal. Detroit wants a stud in return for nothing. Danielson is unproven, Compher is a plug and Wallinder, another unproven. These so called insiders must think Canucks are giving players away for free. What a joke.

  3. The Flyers have handed out , what I call, +20% contracts for years The agents and players around the league know this and have taken advantage. Couturier 7m not worth 4.5. Hayes 7m not worth 3. Voracek 8m wasn’t worth 5. Ristolinan 5m not worth 4. Farabee 5m not worth 3. Atkinson not worth 2. They still owe half of Hayes contract through 25/26 season. Oh man, I’m getting sick just writing this. Thanks Fletcher!!
So now u know why a team that isn’t rebuilding, can’t rebuild. But yet there is always a way ( see Bill Guerin)
And Briere must find a way to really rebuild soon or he will be gone in a year. U to Jones
    Get aggressive, please

  4. It is so sad, my wife and I cannot afford to pay even more money to watch the Detroit Red Wings. They didn’t make enough money on over the air free tv?

  5. What pennies on the dollar? Columbus gave us a 2nd rounder to take on Laine’s contract for 2 seasons.
Sometimes the best return is being rid of $5.5M on your team cap.

  6. Detroit says no – easily. And though Petterson is the more talented player, Larkin is a gamer and leader. Vancouver would have to add a significant sweetener.

  7. Habs are more than likely to extend Jake on a 3-4 team friendly deal between 3 and 3.5m… It would take a massive overpay to get Evans… Dvorak is available 😉

  8. YOU NEED TO FIRE LOU B4 HE DESTROYS THIS FRANCHISE FOREVER! THIS PACKAGE IS REDICULOUS!!! IF HE MOVES NELSON AND A 1ST FOR HIM ITS A FUCKING DISASTER. LET ALONE, ADDING IN DOBSON.
ATROCIOUSLY BAD TRADE FOR ISLES! DISGUSTINGLY BAD!

  9. The only condition I would make on the 2026 1st is if it’s top 5 protected. If this came to fruition Detroit’s future D pairings could look like this:
    Byram Seider
    Edvidsson ASP
    Buium Tuomisto
    Johansson

  10. No way Detroit does this … Byran being a free agent….. Also the first round pick is just too much to give up…hell wallinder could be the answer himself….no deal

  11. Sabres aren’t doing that. BUF is even more determined/desperate to win now than DET, so they aren’t giving up the more “now” piece for futures… they’re looking to get older, not younger.

  12. I would welcome Byram. Anyone else know much about him? The Wings need help on the D side of things. Petry, Eric G, etc are not going to cut it.

  13. If you’re in in Vegas, they just beat your team last night. They’re not going to be in a lottery position this year. Update your article. Both Laine and Dach are just hitting their strides as both missed full season’s last year.

  14. That’s absurd beyond reasoning giving up a promising goalie and picks for a washed out goalie who’s already failed in Ottawa. No gm makes this trade

  15. Overpaid J. Skinner, and Ryan could be traded draft picks and/or prospects before trade deadline.
    As for Kane…wait and see.
Possibility traded in the summer for prospects, or draft picks

  16. 7.1 million, 6 years for a guy who hasnt really done anything. This would cost Yzerman his job. Not even worth a 7th RD pick. NO WAY

    • Sabres want vets in a trade. They are blaming their woes on too many young players not enough vets. The cap is going up at least $4.4M next year.
So look for the trade to include a 2nd/3rd line center (or 2nd line winger) + 4th line (cheaper) vet (or perhaps a vet d-man) + 2nd round draft pick + good prospect. Detroit has Compher, Copp, and Tarasenko as vets that fit this request. If Detroit deals a player with term and salary left–say Copp (2.5 yrs @$5.625M) or Compher (3.5yrs @$5.1M) or even Tarasenko (1.5yrs @$4.75M) then the $7.1M is easier to absorb. Throw in a 4th liner like say Veleno (1.5yrs @$2.275M) or a vet d-man (Chiarot 1.5@$4.75M or Gustafsson ([email protected]) and Cozens’ contract isn’t the albatross you think. Detroit also has 2 picks that are essentially have the same ceiling Kasper and Danielson so one could be expendable.
If Yzerman offers: Compher + Chiarot + Berggren + high 2nd (Detroit’s 2025) I think that’s a decent package (good 3rd line center + good 3rd pair d-man (okay 2nd pair if necessary but can play both sides of the point) + 2nd line ceiling young wing + pick in the 30’s. Throw in Veleno if necessary.
Or structure it around trading a Kasper or Danielson and getting rid of a Copp contract.

  17. Would definitely be interested in such a trade. I would move one of DeBrincat or Kasper or Danielson and this years 2025 first for Dylan Cozens.

  18. It’s good to know that a team has true interest in Nicky, the issue here is that unless Tre has a deal for a third line winger to replace Robertson, I can’t see him moving him. If Tre does find a player that fit’s the bill then I could see Tre flipping Robertson for a pick or high end prospect. It’s to bad that you don’t have a spare third line center. We’ll just have to wait and see what unfolds down the road.

  19. Dach + LM + for .5pt/game guy with upside – seems totally ridiculous to me – way too much for way too little. LM is likely to be in the running for the Clader Trophy next year. We have held onto Dach this long – we need to follow through and he does seem to be finding his game.

  20. Petersen is aloof and self centered, getting snarky with questions from reporters….he is a problem and Miller knows it…..get him out and get the best return.

    • No thanks. I don’t want Pettersson traded from Canucks. I rather want to see a season where Pettersson (#40) plays on the same team with Canucks’s other Pettersson player (#26). Also Miller is the older player, and if one of them has to be traded anytime soon, then I say trade Miller instead of Pettersson. I expect Pettersson to get better as the season progresses and be playing at his best by the time it hits the end of regular season. Fans should be respectful towards younger players that have become a part of their NHL’s team.

  21. Why would Bennett want to leave a Cup contender for the Flames? Also, what would have to go the other way. Panthers probably don’t want picks/prospects.

  22. Except you’ve ignored his NMC this season, wouldnt be able to trade him this year if he says no. Considering he just bought Jakes house, I think he would say no.

  23. Rangers already have a high scoring / highly paid non physical winger who disappears in the playoffs. Why would they look to add another?

  24. Is this list a joke? I mean outside of the Roy trade I doubt the others qualify in the top 25. Off the top of my head, there’s the Gretzky trade to LA, the Lindros trade, Hodge and Esposito to the Bruins, Neely to the Bruins, Gilmour to the Leafs, sundin to the Leafs…

  25. They do not have one RHD in the pipeline but TWO!! Mailloux AND Reinbacher are right handed. They passed on Mitchkov, who leads by a head the pts for rookies, so they can get their hands on Reinbacher and now they’re looking for a another one? Mailloux is almost a ppg right now they might just call him from Laval and give him a try instead. What they need right now is a solid 2nd goalie and a coach that puts Slav on the 1st line.

  26. This is no longer a rumor, but has been identified as a lie. There never was a request by Larkin, and you know it. Repeating this is the mark of a scumbag.

  27. My bet is he is part of a bigger trade for Defensive help. I would think they may package him and Juulsson for an upgrade on Right side D.

    • I agree – Ottawa would need to add something significant to make this a fair trade. This author is awful at this trade proposal stuff. He has no clue.

  28. Agree. Him or Brock Nelson are the perfect choices for the Bruins. Go Center before any other position.
    Making the lines more balanced.
    1. Zacha- Granlund or Nelson- Pasta
    2. Marshy- Lindholm-Brazeau
    3. Freddy- Johnson- Kastelic
    4. Beecher- Pitlick (from AHL)- Koepke

  29. You do realize that the Leafs don’t have their 2023 first round pick right? Its top ten protected, but that pick belongs to Chicago

  30. Another swing and a miss Bill.

Palmeiri would bring a bigger return than what you proposed, and I’m sure that the Islanders are looking for prospects rather than draft picks.

  31. Matheson is a lifted skater and offensive defenseman but a poor defender, kind of like Shayne Gostisbehere, which will limit the return.

  32. Ya hit he nail on the head lago. No research and hot wind. He will be 29 before next season starts and is, as you mentioned a small defenseman, similar to one the Red Wings drafted recently, but this guy has way less talent. Draft: Nashville, 4th round (115th overall), 2015 NHL Entry

  33. Come on Bill ! Get your facts together before you write ! Carrier is a small 28 year old defenseman, not a young talented forward.

This is the writing of a punk amateur wannabe.

  34. I disagree with the value you assign to Matheson. He is a gifted offensive defenseman who is also a poor defender, and is only a 1st pair guy on a bottom team. I value him as a #4/5 defenseman who isn’t worth either a 1st round pick or an A prospect 1 for 1.

  35. A gamble that has paid off immensely. Currently Lankinen is 7-0-1 in his 8 starts. He looks fantastic and his play has allowed Thatcher Demko to take his time to heal and not rush back from it. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Lankinen sign an extension.

  36. This author is dreaming. Buffalo would never consider a Boeser/Byram trade. I doubt they are thinking of moving Byram, and Boeser is not even close to enough anyway.

  37. Why would the Sabres deal him to a divisional rival. And the Sens only have one 1st round pick in the next 2 years. With a very poor prospect pool, why would they trade it away?

  38. Stop with the silliness already. Why would any team in a rebuild take on a 28 year old player with that length of a contract. Bailey needs to pursue another endeavor as this one is over his head.

  39. Dach is 22. Why would the Habs trade him when he is part of their rebuild? They would prefer trading their own draft capital for players in that age
    Bracket.

  40. Being patient is the key. Adding a player like Pinto would be a good but probably expensive move. The big question would Pinto want to be here long term

  41. Give one good reason why Rantanen would want to come to Toronto? This isn’t any type of smack talk, just a real question.

  42. Really it depends on what they get offered too. It’ll take a very good offer to convince Conroy to move Andersson especially this year.

  43. Two reasons this Fowler trade to the Wings never happens – first, Detroit needs a RD far more than another LD like Fowler, and second, Detroit has no cap space, so any trade would need to be dollar in, dollar out. Little chance of that.

  44. i paid and made picks but never got email saying i am in my game name is arnieboy58 and my name is wayne henderson paid PayPal under donna loughran name

  45. the blindsided late hit directly to the jaw that Greig threw on Dach in the first was a worse hit, similar style, and set the tone – for some reason that hit got reduced to 2 minutes even though head was the first point of contact, yet Xhekaj’s 5 stands when he hits the guys stick? It’s a complete joke… the haters will always put blinders on to hate on the Sheriff – the replays were clear and obvious for both hits.
Xhekaj doesn’t make any head contact… he should of got 2 minutes and Brady should of got his 2, 5, and 10 for instigating a fight in retaliation as is the norm…. officiating is already a huge problem again.

  46. That the Flames would be looking to sign a super expensive goalie (Shesterkin or Swayman) is about the dumbest Flames rumor out there right now.

Only an idiot who knows nothing about the team, it’s goalies, it’s ownership or GM would believe that.

  47. This is one of the dumbest things I’ve read in weeks.

The Islanders are not retooling, and if you know ANYTHING at all about Lou, you know he would never in a million years trade his Captain before the season starts, much less Dobson who is well on his way to becoming a star. IF the season goes badly, then you could see Lee, Palmieri and Nelson dealt at the trade deadline, but not in a million years before that. It’s just not how Lou operates.

  48. Hey Dave, this website blows, and just wanted to tell you the actually reputable NY Post said they’re closer in talks than you’ve described. I mean why would people on the team beat who have relationships with both parties have a better understanding of the situation than some writer on a garbage blogsite? Have a good one!

  49. with preseason underway, and bruins giving lysell a golden opportunity to succeed, that hasn’t or will not be successful, begs the question, who in the bruins organization is accountable for making the lysell selection in the first round versus wyatt johnson, a right hand center the bruins coveted. is a change in scouting and the decision making management position necessary for bruins future success.

  50. Do you think that Montreal will be willing to include Reinbacher to get a top RD ? I would think that St Louis would want him + for Parayko.

  51. I hate it when people use the term McJesus. Jesus is Christ my Lord and Savior, not a hockey player. Not that I don’t love McDaddy, he can be my big daddy any day. Oilers Rule.

    • It’s ok Sheldon, Yeshua was his name, not Jesus, the letter J never existed in the alphabet in “Christs” day. As well, look up the etymology on the word GOD. lol I almost had you looking up insects there, homophones am I right? anywho, God has nothing to do with the Creator. Yahuah is the creator’s name. Ever wonder why so many people pray and their prayers seem to never get answered, but the guy at the pulpit seems to have overflowing wealth of this world?. I like to make a joke of it and think that out there is some Mexican hot dog vendor waking every night in cold sweat hearing the disembodied prayers of millions. Don’t send letters without names. Know what I am saying? Side note, the GENEVA BIBLE of 1599 is the only true English translation of scripture unadulterated from its original Hebrew and Greek texts, even then, a collection of books. Ever read Enoch? We are about to live out it’s pages. Wild times. I wonder how it’s going to affect Hockey this season when Revelation 13 takes Presidency? LMAO Bless you all, repent, LOVE not division, KEEP THE FAITH!! Vengeance is the Creators alone to take, even says it in section 18 of the Quran. So there. Suck it up buttercups, no man is to take any life of another, thus live by the sword die by the sword, or in our case, live by the Goalie stick die by the Goalie stick… am I right? Let’s talk Hockey, we have an eternity with Christ in the afterlife, let’s enjoy the blessings of the one created for us all for how ever long we have. Love you Guy’s, seriously, I hope you feel me. So that all said keep your stick on the ice!

  52. I mean really. If Montreal wants a player to complete their first line then they sure won’t be getting him for such a lowball offer.

  53. To complete the trade, Detroit ups the offer, and includes Yzerman himself, which he does prior to being fired by the Wings for making this trade. An A prospect and a 1st ? No thanks.

  54. Well, Bill. You’ve set a new standard with this one. If Yzerman were to do this trade, his next step might be to join the Canadiens organization, as he would most certainly be fired by Detroit. This proposal gives Detroit maybe 1/2 of Raymond’s value from Montreal, maybe less. If Montreal called Detroit with this offer, Yzerman, after he stops laughing (which might take a while) says no thank you.

    You really suck at this.

  55. LMAO – The Hab fan base would not be happy and HuGo is way too smart for this joke proposal…. Hutson has Quinn Hughes potential and is probably already worth more than Raymond straight up – guess silly season is still going with the way journalists make fools of themselves 😉

  56. Laughable. There’s no chance Calgary retains salary on Kadri. Even without the retention you’d have to replace Krebs and Rosen with something better than either one.

  57. Calgary is listening to offers but it’ll take a really good to get Andersson now. He won’t be sold cheap and if anyone thinks having a bit of a down year due to recovering from literally being hit by truck they’re dreaming.

Andersson has 2 years left on his contract at a team friendly cap hit. Calgary is no rush to move him just for the sake of moving. Unless they get an offer that blows their socks off they’ll be perfectly content to wait until near the trade deadline or until next year to decide if they’ll even trade him at all.

  58. No deal. Other than the 1st there isn’t much in this proposal to interest. Just a completely superflous expensive left shot LW cap dump with a 3 years of term and a mediocre RW prospect.

If Calgary trades Kadri they’ll want a good young center / center prospect as part of the return or a significantly better return than this.

  59. Robertson doesn’t fit into Detroits top six any more than he does into Toronto. Which top six winger do you see him replacing ? Raymond ? Kane ? DeBrincat ? Tarasenko ? No chance.

  60. Askarov could be a game changer for the franchise in the future. If LA is out of contention by mid season I would do it. The Kings aren’t in a win now situation. If the best they could offer is the past three years then this is going into rebuild mode. I like Portillo but he’s not even close to Askarov’s level.

  61. This deal is not gonna happen or at least not in the form presented. Columbus makes out like absolute bandits. No way possible that Laine is worth anywhere close to that.

  62. Not a trade that would happen, especially at this time of the year.

While Flames are building up, they also want to make a run for playoffs. They need quality vets to help the younger players grow and develop. They also needs butts in seats and Kadri is popular. Kadri does this for them.

In all likelihood, Flames get same or more for Kadri at the trade deadline from a team wanting to go all-in, so it makes more sense for the Flames to hold their position, play out the season and evaluate where they are at coming up to the trade deadline.

  63. Some of those numbers are waaaaaayyyyy off! (How does Crosby have a 12 year contract? When was Seth Jones re-signed for eight years at $12.5 million? Werenski suddenly gets another $2 million per year?)

  64. Hate the thought of trading Beck & Mesar two young and talented players but Knowing the people in charge of trades are masters of their craft

  65. Doesn’t make sense for the Habs, Hage will slot in as the 2nd line center when he’s finished at Michigan and Beck into 3rd line center position.

  66. This rumour is so bad lol

Why in the world would the flames ever make that trade? Pospisil is the best player in that trade

  67. This won’t happen. Sabres get an established and productive player for a question mark player. No one would make that deal. Now throw in Helenius and a 2nd on round pick on top of that then we can talk.

  68. This is THE trade that I am hoping for .!! Kaliyev fits the core in Montreal and has the skill set that the HABS development team can work with .!! Please Kent …make this happen !!!

  69. Detroit says no thank you – emphatically ! This proposal is downright silly ! Detroit wouldn’t trade Berggren for Gourde even up, let alone add a 4th round pick. Berggren would out produce Gourde by a significant margin. I doubt Detroit has any interest in Gourde, but if they did, Seattle would need to add to the proposal, like 2nd round pick.

  70. Horrible move. A 32 soon to be 33 year old in December whom averages 13 goals a year. If Yzerman does this, he should be fired.

  71. Get real, Wolf isn’t going anywhere. Neither is Kadri unless they have a very good young center coming in to replace him (not necessarily in the same trade).

  72. Kings can’t trade Clarke !!! Certainly not yet ! They need to see what he can do for one season as a full time NHL’r. We actually have a good goalie pipeline right now. We need a great, young, offensive D man to replace Doughty soon and we don’t have anyone close to Clarke in our prospect pool. This would be a stupid trade for Rob Blake to make.

  73. If I were the Flyers I would switch out Lapierre for Lenard then pull the trigger. We would be getting excellent players in return and have 4 1st round draft picks next year to move up and get an elite player. It’s a no Brainerd. But being the Flyers they would see the value in it and walk right past it.

  74. The last thing Philadelphia needs is more low ceiling prospects for the most valuable versatile highest scoring peice on the team right now. Come on guys. Get serious.

  75. Once again absolutely NO WAY that “throw together Cap Dump” gets you Konecny. That’s insane.
You better be thinking MORE like Ryan Leonard AND a 1st if we’re taking Oshie. Bear is just another bottom pair D and Lappy is what a 2nd round bottom6 ceiling prospect? AND you think The Flyers are retaining 50% of that STEAL of a contract? That’s some true clown stuff there.
Ryan Leonard and the 2025 1st. And The Flyers might take Oshie with an extra sweetener.
No Bear or other low rate prospects.
Caps Konecny and get off of Oshie and his contract. Flyers can open up LTIR for a 1st and an 8th overall picked potentially elite forward prospect.
    Otherwise this would never happen.

  76. Why in the world would you think Greenway and a low level prospect get you Farabee. Keep dreaming Sabres fans. Maybe with a 1st or an Owens.

  77. Awful trade for Philadelphia. No way Flyers give up their only middle6 center for another defenseman and more late round picks. No thanks.

  78. For me Carlo stays where he is in Boston and one of their best. NO TRADING this guy. That’s it that’s all.

  79. Great idea on the trade, deal from a point of strength and get younger. I like Carlo but you have to think of the future and cap. Hopefully these two in return are tougher individuals like some of the most recent signings.

  80. What a load of crapp. The Bruins are a perennial Playoff team and aren’t looking to trade one of their best defensemen. Stop making stupid trade proposals not based on reality.

  81. The proposal for Utah to trade for JT Compher from Detroit is most likely not feasible prior to the upcoming season. Compher provides 3 things to the Wings lineup that they have no replacement for this season:
    1. Compher is Detroits #2C, and there is no one available in their current system to take that spot.
    2. Compher is Detroits only RHC, so trading him would create the very problem here that Utah is trying to solve there with this proposal.
    3. Compher, along with Copp, form a very good #1 PK forward team, and again, there is no one in the system here to replace him.

    Iago

    • Rumor is Detroit wants Norris–an actual #2 center and from the Detroit area (Oxford, MI)–from Ottawa; so, Compher would then be expendable. However, I don’t see Detroit grabbing Norris and his 7.95M cap hits for the next 6 seasons.

Norris has a back-loaded actual salary contract. So it is possible Ottawa is trying to deal him before his MNTC’s kick in and before his 9.5M in actual dollars kick in this year.

If Ottawa retained salary to get the cap hits down. I don’t think Detroit cares about paying his actual salary.

On the flip side. I don’t see an upside for the trade with Utah. A 2nd and a 3rd in two years…yeah that would be an easy pass.

  82. The Ottawa senators will make a bad splash if they get a goalie ulmark looks good because of defence at -4 Talbot looks good because of defence at -9 Ottawa goalies looks bad because of defence at -47 get good defensemen instead .

  83. I don’t see that trade giving Colorado much cap relief.
Jarnkrok get $2.1M/yr for the next two years.
Liljegren is a RFA with arbitration rights. His numbers will probably get him $3+ mil (some project $4M).
they’re spending $5.1+ M to replace a $4M guy. They’re getting a dmen who the Leafs would be walking away from because of the $3+ mil likely arbitration.
To me, doesn’t make sense for Colorado.

  84. This trade wouldn’t be good for just Zegras let alone him and Gibson. The Ducks are literally loaded with high end centers with more than a few in the minors that will play bottom pairing roles perfectly. Mercer at best is a middle six player and probably a third line winger on the Ducks. If this deal has any legs behind it The Ducks need more. For Zegras AND Gibson it would take a prospect like Mercer, this years first and next years first and a 2026 third. No deal unless it is something like that or very close.

  85. Safe to say that there is less than 0% chance this trade happens. Rangers would not do Konecny for Perreault straight up let alone add a first round pick for a one year rental. Konecny for a 1st and maybe Kakko or a B+ prospect would be sufficient.

  86. I think Ottawa should go for Colton and instead of a first round pick try and get 6 foot 3 right hand shot defenseman Josh manson in the deal .

  87. This trade proposal makes little sense for Detroit in that Konecny does not fill their main need up front, which is LH top six forward. Konecny is a small RH forward similar.to Raymond and DeBrincat,
and the Wings top forward prospect Carter Mazur. Meanwhile, if Kane does not return, as anticipated, Detroit has no LH top six forward on the roster w ith only one prospect, Berggren, in the pipeline. And although Konecny plays with an edge, he does not fill the need for size up front either. If Yzerman were to be willing to part with Kasper and their 2024 1st, he needs to target a top 6 LH winger with some size and toughness, not a player like Konecny, who is redundant to what Detroit already has in the organization.

  88. Exchanging Batherson for Ullmark would be a mistake look at Cam Talbot stats with the La kings you will see it’s a lack of defence in Ottawa

  89. When you look at the compensation that has to be awarded to the Jets if Cole were to sign an offer sheet, I don’t think there is a GM out there that would offer a contract that the Jets wouldn’t immediately match.

If Cole were to sign an offersheet over $4,290,125 the offering team would have to give up one first-round pick and one third-round pick. I don’t think many teams would give that up for what will likely be a bridge deal.

I think the Jets would be quick to match an offer below that amount.

I think the only way Cole leaves the Jets this off season is through a trade.

Here is how the compensation is structured for the 2023-2024 season:

    Here is the compensation structure:

    Less than $1,415,740: No compensation.
    $1,415,740 to $2,145,061: One third-round pick.
    $2,145,061 to $4,290,125: One second-round pick.
$4,290,125 to $6,435,186: One first-round pick and one third-round pick.
$6,435,186 to $8,580,250: One first-round pick, one second-round pick, and one third-round pick.
$8,580,250 to $10,725,314: Two first-round picks, one second-round pick, and one third-round pick.
$10,725,314 and above: Four first-round picks.

  90. WE WILL NEVER SEE A STANLY CUP ,WITH THE D-FENSE WE HAVE ! GO RANGERS…….
(SIGNED : X-BRUIN FAN ) LOOK AT THIS YEARS PAST GAMES !
    WATCH THE ( D ) #25 FOR STARTERS.#12 ? WHAT WAS SWEENEY THINKING ABOUT. O’ AND #61 WHAT A ( JOKE )…..

  91. Marner makes absolutely no sense for Calgary. The only way they’d consider taking him would be if it costs less than the late 1st + B prospect they could flip him for at 50% retained.

  92. PLD was frustrated with his own play. I didn’t read any tidbit that says he wants to move to a fourth team. Yeah, I want to leave LA for Washington, D.C. said not to many hockey players ever!

  93. Why is Ottawa trading Chychryn if he has such a good contract? …they just acquired him. Is Ehlers worth more? I think Ehlers had a bad year because he was jerked around a lot and lost his confidence. Maybe for his sake, he should go elsewhere where he will flourish. I hate to see him go.

  94. THAT FIRST ROUND (EXIT), IS RIGHT AROUND THE BEND !
WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR ( QUOTE ) LIKE THE RANGER FANS
    ALWAYS SAID.WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR, ( 54 TIMES )…..HA,HA.

  95. This article is just silly. Tkachuk, Seider, and Raymond aren’t going anywhere. And Ottawa is stuck with Chabot and his fat long term contract.
Then extend time you are thinking of writing another article like this Bill, just don’t do it, or you may embarrass yourself again.

  96. Nope. Yzerman is in this for the long game, and trading away cornerstones of the team’s future isn’t going to happen. Mo and Ray will stay.

    • Thank god you have no influence on the Sens management. A comment such as yours should be proof that it is time for you to pull your head out of your a**.

  97. They can get Tij through another teade- Markstrome to Devils. 3 high 1st round picks would be great for future and it seems they go for rebuild anyway.

  98. I understand that Craig Conroy had to put Markstrom name out to see if there was a good trade. I guess the G.M.’s of the league can’t keep a secret. Now with the further wave of rumors I can see why Markstrom wants to be traded. Personally were going to be sorry to loose him no matter what we get in trade.

  99. Chabot will not be easy to trade, even before his NTC kicks in. He is oft injured, and is adequate (at best) defensively. It might even require a sweetener to get rid of his big long term contract. And the return would probably be moderate, not significant. My Red Wings need help on D, and I would not want Chabot here at any price

  100. The only way the Habs would be interested in the above deal is if LA retained a minimum of 25% of Dubois’ salary.

  101. I would not make this deal The chemistry of this team seems to be moving forward in a positive way. The team itself has improved a lot over the last two years, and the future looks bright. Bringing in this player and his contract would immediately make him the highest payed player…….wrong. If it’s a matter of getting rid of Andersons’ contract then just make a separate dumping deal to a team in need of a pick or two in the middle rounds Too much risk involved in acquiring this player. His first year in LA and he didn’t perform that well at all. Please do not make this deal

  102. i think the image being used here may be part of the answer. teams where he couldn’t wear 88 are going to have a seriously uphill battle w that signing.

  103. This makes absolutely non sense for Mtl, why would they add Heineman and a pick. Also the need wingers that can score not 2 way centers….

  104. Buffalo is ahead of Calgary in the standings. Calgary is not going swap picks to pick later. And you think they should give them Kadri too?

    • They said the pick originally belonging to Vancouver that calgary has so this proposed trade does improve the flames draft position but I’m still not convinced it’s enough for Kadri

  105. Why would Ottawa trade a very good and affordable defenceman with ties to the Ottawa area for a more expensive free agent defenceman? How’bout this for a made up trade rumour:
Leafs seriously thinking of trading Marner to Ottawa for a conditional 4th round draft pick and Toronto will retain 67% of Marner’s remaining salary. True story.

  106. WHERE ARE ALL THE DIE-HARD BRUIN FANS ?
DON’T YOU CARE ABOUT BEING (BLOWN-OUT) AGAIN?
IF THE (2) OF THE (D) MEN ARE STILL THERE, YOU
KNOW WHICH (2) I’M TALKING ABOUT ! YOU CAN GET
OUT THE GOLF CLUBS EARLY THIS YEAR !
    SAY SOMETHING,DO SOMETHING !

  107. Arber Xhekaj is so much more than a defenseman, he is a leader, team player and a beating heart. Montreal and Hughes have lost sight of what made Montreal great, it was the workers and the grinders and the talented supporting actors in their very successful play. Think of all the people that you think of as Legends, then think of the people they played beside and with. Give your head a shake!

  108. This is not an option… Xhekaj is untouchable… If you want to trade a young D, than use Harris, Struble, or Barron – but Xhekaj is here for the long haul

  109. Calgary would grab this so fast the phone would overheat. Problem being both Kadri and Coleman have NTCs and it is unlikely that both waive. I also Question which 1st rounder is under discussion, the Calgary one is already committed or the Floaida one certainly, but not sure that would be adequate for Carolina.

  110. Calgary would grab this so fast the phone would overheat. Problem being both Kadri and Coleman have NTCs and it is unlikely that both waive. I also Question which 1st rounder is under discussion, the Vancouver one certainly, but not sure that would be adequate for Carolina

  111. Not happening. Yzerman ain’t giving up those picks for a likely first round exit. And Petry couldn’t get out of Montreal fast enough. Why would the reacquire him?

  112. Hi Rob what is your favorite NHL team mine is the best in the league The winnipeg Jets do you think they will make the playoffs i hope they do

  113. Buchnevich is signed through the 24-25 season for $5.8 million. The Blues could easily accommodate a bridge deal for Necas. Also, Necas age is what Blues GM Doug Armstrong has been looking for as he tries to keep St Louis as a competitive bubble team during the reload. Blake has been an offensive force for the University of North Dakota so the potential offensive talent between the two players is considerable. The major hole in the Blues prospect pool is top 4 defensemen. Theo Lindstein, one of three Blues first rounders last year is currently the only prospect that seems to fit that requirement. Carolina has Morrow and Nikishin as their top two defensive prospects, could the trade morph into dropping Moore and adding one of the two defensive prospects? Only time will tell.

  114. The alleged rumor of this proposed “deal” must have originated in some Wild fan’s wishful daydream. There is no way the Rangers are trading a 23 year old Kakko and an 18 year old Perrault, both big parts of the Rangers’ future, for a 36 year old anyone. Furthermore, Perrault was just drafted this last draft, and he is considered the steal of the draft by many experts, as he’s putting up huge numbers as a freshman at Boston College. Where you get that notion that he’s failed to impress Rangers staff when the very opposite is the case, is beyond me. If you’re going to make something up, at least do a bit of research.

  115. Why would the Blues consider a trade like this when the player they’re going to receive back is a RFA at the end of this season? They probably couldn’t resign him for the same reasons why they can’t resign Buchnevich. Carolina will have a whole season after this season! I’m just wondering?

  116. I’VE BEEN SIGNED IN AND POSTED ( 3 ) COMMENTS ABOUT THE
    ( D ), THE WORST 2 D-MEN EVER TO PUT ON A BRUIN UNIFORM
YOU’LL KNOW WHEN YOU WATCH THE GAMES WHO THEY ARE !
    HERES A HINT # 12 + # 25 FOR STARTERS……OUCH !!!!!!

  117. If toronoto wants parayko think of this.
Neimela knies and 1st round pick. How the kap works is not our problem. Lol to the guy above. Parayko is a #1rhd who plays 24 to 27 mins a night and plays against the best comp while putting up 35 points..lol

  118. I’m afraid this is going to be another year of disappointment for the Oilers. They lack depth, decent defence and consistent goaltending.

  119. The Oilers better not waste McDavid’s prime, they need to go all in for it this year because time is undefeated McDavid(27), Draisaitl (28), Hyman (31), Kane (32), and Nugent-Hospkins (30) these boys aren’t getting anu younger. They need to trade for Buchnevich (28) 22g 24a for 46 points this year and it projected to be a 67 point player, all it would take is a no.1 in 2024, Philip Broberg and a 3rd round in 2025. Buchnevich is signed thru next year at 5.8m AAV. The Oilers should be playing for the western conference championship at this year so the no.1 would be no great than a 1st round 28th selection.

  120. Vegas should not be allowed to do this. It happens every year with them. Some how Mark Stone will be totally fine for game 1 on the playoffs.

  121. Aren’t Guentzel and Graves UFAs? Couldn’t they walk away and go wherever they want? Doesn’t make sense to me unless they sign extensions. The Habs don’t need them this year.

  122. I GUESS NO ONE CARES IF WE GET BLOWN OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND AGAIN ! ( WHY )? THE D- CAN’T DO THE JOB THIER
GETTING PAID TO DO ! AGAIN WATCH THE GAMES AND SEE THE (2) D-MEN I’M TALKING ABOUT ! 12 + 25 FOR STARTERS******

  123. Brutal. I have TSN as part of my cable package but not Sportsnet Ontario.

Thanks for the Leafs TV info, I will be listening to Fan590 tonight.

    GO LEAFS GO!

  124. The Devils would be foolish to give up Holtz and a pick for a Dman and a question mark in goal. If they don’t get a goalie, they shouldn’t bother.

  125. Not a chance in hell. This article is a day late and a dollar short on all fronts. The cap constraint the wild are going through are for most part over after next year. That too me isn’t a time frame to trade their premier player for a depth defensemen one for sure blue chip prospect a could be promising futures prospect and one 1st round draft pick. There’s not enough there to make Minnesota want to do that.

  126. Another crazy rumor. If it’s the Coyote’s unprotected 2024 1st then that pick + Crouse would be a tempting start to a trade for Andersson alone but it’d take a little more than that and Calgary certainly won’t be throwing in Maniapane for free.

  127. One of worst trade proposals yet. Leafs are would get fleeced. Parayko is a shadow of his former self. Not physical. And not a top-4 on any contending team – with an awful contract. Lol. Niemela is a top- prospect that will be a cheap add to their revamped core next year. Jarnkrok also a very underrated winger. Plays up and down lineup with ease. No thank you at all from Leafs perspective. And they also toss in a 1st??? Lol. This must be a Blues beat reporter. Just brutal.

  128. Not nearly enough from Toronto, who get 2 very useful pieces while dumping 2 useless salaries. The first and Niemela are not enough for Parayko and Blais, and Toronto also needs to compensate St. Louis for eating Reaves and Jarnkroks salaries. Maybe add Minten and another high pick.

  129. I hope NJD don’t even consider this! Nemec, Holtz, and a 1st, this is not a good move on our side. Maybe a better defensemen with size can have good impact and be cheaper than Nemec and holtz!

  130. What they’re saying is the Leafs can’t win with the stars they’ve got? A few years ago Tavares was supposed to be the answer.

  131. THIS SUPER SEASON WE ARE HAVING, WILL NOT LAST!
    ( WHY ) ? WATCH THE D,THERE ARE (2) THAT MUST GO !
PLEASE WATCH THE GAME, NEVER MIND THE + – WATCH THE D.

  132. Love it when guys come on line trying to act as someone with knowledge on hockey an put out a stupid idea like this. You’re an idiot Rob

  133. Trading Eberle back to Oilers is a step backwards. They got rid of him after demonstrating an indifferent effort defensively during his last playoff with the Oilers. It was shocking really.

  134. If none of Svechnikov, Jarvis, Teravainen, nor Necas are available, Buchnevich should definitely not be included. Buchnevich alone commands a package bigger than what you list here. HARD PASS

Binner straight up for Teravainen on a sign and trade, especially realizing that Binner might be overtaken for the starting role again, this time by Hoefer, and the Hurricanes providing a better defensive structure to play behind, and Teravainen looking at an increased role with increased minutes, that could be a win-win both for the players involved as well as for the teams making the swap, but if the best players the Hurricanes part with are Bunting and Kotkaniemi, still a HARD PASS.

  135. I hope this doesn’t happen. While Lindholm is a good player, it’s hard to see this as an upgrade worth a future first round pick when the Pens really aren’t Stanley Cup contenders this year. I guess we’ll see what the GM’s think before the trade deadline. I’d rather see the Pens try for someone like Chychrun if they want to spend 1st round draft capital.

  136. This might be one of the worst trade proposals for Lindy that I have seen. Smith isn’t what the Flames need, the defender is a former 3rd rounder and the pick isnt for two years. Connie should be fired if this occurred.

  137. Not sure where your getting your information regarding this deal but it’s 100% false.
Doug Armstrong wouldn’t consider it especially for the players you mentioned.

  138. No thanks. This team is too beat up. They d, even with Tanev, is suspect due to youth and inexperience. Why mortgage future of holtz and 1sr round pick for a shot at playoffs and 1st rd exit. Wait for off-season and go after a sold too 4 shit down dman and goalie.

  139. If I’m making a trade with Edmonton and I’m Montreal, I would offer to take Jack Campbell’s full contract for Jake Allen, I would offer Mike Matheson and Sean Monahan with a fourth overall pick and try to land. Evan Bouchard. It would complete their defense and give them options to deal younger defense to solidify their offense and get a true offensive star.

They should be pushing for guys on teams like Columbus for Patrick Laine, or LA’s Quinton byfield, to bring in that size and skill.

  140. I would like to know why when you have the best fans in Denver Colorado you blackout the games to the Home fans aren’t we deserving of being able to watch the games of our home team who makes this decision and how can it be changed sincerely

    • Hi Lynda, here is the explanation on Avs games being blacked out:

The blackout of Colorado Avalanche games, or any local NHL team’s games, is primarily a result of the broadcasting rights agreements between the NHL, regional sports networks (RSNs), and national broadcasters. These blackouts are put in place to protect the financial interests of these entities and encourage attendance at the arena. Here’s how it works and what can be done about it:

Broadcasting Rights and Agreements: RSNs pay a significant amount of money for the exclusive rights to broadcast the games of local teams in their area. The idea is that if fans in the local market can watch all the games on TV, they might be less likely to buy tickets to attend in person. Therefore, to ensure that attendance remains high, certain games are blacked out on national services in the local market, pushing fans to either attend in person or watch through the RSN that holds the local broadcasting rights.

Contracts and Negotiations: The specific terms of blackouts are detailed in contracts between the leagues, RSNs, and broadcasters. These contracts are complex and negotiated to balance the interests of all parties involved, including the teams, broadcasters, and fans.

Fan’s Perspective and Pushback: From a fan’s perspective, these policies can be frustrating, especially in the modern era where digital streaming has become more prevalent. Fans who are unable to attend games in person for various reasons believe that they should still have the opportunity to support their team by watching the games on TV or online.

How Can It Be Changed?: Changing blackout policies is challenging because it involves renegotiating contracts between powerful entities with significant financial interests. However, fan pressure can make a difference. Here are a few steps fans can take:

Voice Your Concerns: Contact the Avalanche’s front office, the NHL, and the RSN that broadcasts the games. Expressing your dissatisfaction through official channels can bring attention to the issue.
Use Social Media and Petitions: These platforms can amplify your voice. A well-organized campaign that gains enough traction can lead to discussions among the decision-makers.
Support Legal or Legislative Actions: In some cases, fans have banded together to support legal or legislative actions that aim to change blackout policies. Keeping informed and supporting these initiatives can potentially lead to change.

  141. Great. Acquire more single-dimensional players and discard more toughness. Soft skills alone have never won a Stanley Cup. Was Kevyn Adams bullied growing up? Do the Sabres not offer the kind of benefits package where he can get over this and make the changes needed to make the team relevant? We’re not talking 30 moves; just unload 3 or 4 of your same-skillset prospects and pointless draft picks for 2 gritty D men and a gritty Forward. How come the fanbase knows what they need but they don’t?

  142. Far too much to give up as we know that Kuzmenko is a 40 goal scorer. Hoglander has become very valuable and versatile to the Canucks. He has far too much talent and has also become a pest to the opposition. Far too much to give up if the Canucks are including a first round pick. The Canucks can do far better elsewhere as I think a Guentzel trade would make far more sense.

  143. This is an utter joke, the Wild lose on this trade big time. A top 2 line center with a contract below $6 mil and he is a defensive presence that wins face-offs. Dont make me laugh.

  144. Buchnevich, a proven 30 goal scorer, is on a team friendly contract for next season. Neighbors is under team control for another 4 seasons and is having a breakout season. Anderson is an overpaid 3rd liner for 3 more seasons. It’s not hard to walk away from this lousy offer.

The picks need to be unprotected firsts from Habs and the prospects need to be elite if they’re going to cause a response other than hard pass on an offer with these financial considerations. Buchnevich and Neighbors will continue being superior players for as long as they bleed blue.

Blues will continue focusing on moving Scandella Kappanen Sundqvist and Blaise for 3rd round picks and listen to offers on Schenn Hayes and Saad

  145. Robertson has shown he has the talent to be a 7, and or 6. Insertable into a number 4 or higher. He has the natural ability too be a top 6 player. He needs to have a year to prove it. The chance to work and build his natural talent. Where as Bruce Jenner would be a working the third line or a top 6 player and a replacement for Matthew Knies and Matt with Travers and Tyler Bratuzie(you will have excuse me for any name misspelling)

  146. Rob, what are you smoking? You somehow think a guy who just got demoted to the AHL is equal in value to a guy who hasn’t missed a game since he made his debut 3 years ago, who last year scored 27 goals, and is on a similar pace this year? Throw in Montembault and we’ll talk.

  147. Hey Ron, what Montreal Canadiens fan is supplying these Habs rumours. Xhekaj for Mercer? Not in this lifetime. Mercer would bring a lot better return than that. I am not a fan of either team. Cheers, T

  148. If Columbus were to consider moving Jenner. Robertson would not be nearly enough to get him. In fact, I question why any NHL team would pursue Robertson. He has not shown an ability to be a regular NHL player, let alone as a potential top six guy. Anyone thinking that a tough competitor like Jenner could be acquired for a borderline bottom six guy like Robertson is dreaming.

  149. This trade doesn’t make Ottawa better this year or in the next couple years and therefore makes no sense.

They’d be dumb to trade him for a 3rd pair D, 4th line C, and a future low 1st round pick.

Kupari has shown little sign of improvement in 4 seasons and has 1 point.

  150. I think the author needs to study the Jets roster closer. Jets already have 2 extra D on the roster and that is before Ville H comes off of IR soon who is waiver exempt but would have made the team. This would actually add to the D logjam.

  151. OUR TEAM NEEDS A BETTER DEFENCE !
I COULD NAME (2), WATCH THE GAMES AND SEE WHO,
AND HOW MANY THEY LET GET PAST THEM !
NEVER MIND THE + – WATCH THE GAME AND SEE WHO’S
ON THE ICE WHEN THE OTHER TEAM SCORES .

  152. All I can say is that I hope to hell this is just an assinine rumor. I would part with Schmidt, Lambert and our first for Konecny and Philly’s second and that is it

  153. i don’t know about that trade at all, a 1st and 2nd line winger (under team control for this year and next) plus a 3rd round pick for an aging 2nd line center on an expiring contract, a waiver wire pickup dman and a 2nd round pick doesn’t add up. Vancouver’s strength is up the middle and they currently have 7 NHL dmen with Soucy about to return from injury.

  154. Interesting you failed to mention Crosby has a full NMC and has given less than zero indication he would waive it to move on from the only team he knows, and in doing so, would break up the longest and certainly one of the greatest trios in NHL history

  155. Love Crosby, but the Leafs don’t need offense, they need a defenseman.

No point giving up a blue chip prospect and a 1st for a player that will retire in a few years.

  156. If they can get Marner to waive his NMC then why cant they get Tavares to waive his ? In a perfect world they would rather keep WIlly Mathews and Marner and get rid of Jt’s $11M hit

  157. Why would the Flyers trade Rasmus Ristolainen, they are playing some of the best hockey in years, plus Toronto doesn’t have cap space for his contract at $5.5 million and a cap hit of $5.1 million. Be much wiser to add Ilya Lyubushkin, at $2,750.000 (2024 5 round pick) and or Tyler Tucker from St. Louis at 750K (2026 6 round pick) and still have some money left to trade for a forward …..then trade one of your defenceman, Timmins, Lagesson along with Robertson for a forward with size like a Lawson Crouse (wishful thinking) but more realistically a player like Brett Leason from Anaheim or a Givani Smith from the Sharks.

  158. But a guy swinging a 2 hander across another guy’s head gets nothing. That’s the problem with player safety. It is so inconsistent

  159. Not so sure about this. Kyle Dubas let Ilya walk? Why did they not keep him? Now it will cost the Leafs to acquire Ilya. Makes no sense. T.O. needs a defenseman who can help Reilly. Possibly a leadership type of guy! Who plays similar to what Luke Schenn does! And has speed & physicality in his game.

  160. Every time I go and read up on Tanev, I read that he is an average D-Man. So why give up prospects for an average D-Man making that kind of money? Even if you got a D-Man who can not just help defense but be a leader as a defenseman on the team! I am sure M.R. cannot do it on his own! Far as a D-Man Look in Columbus.

  161. 16 is Trevor Linden’s old number and is retired. You’re not the first to make this faux pas. Canucks.com also had it up on their roster section too. We’ll give you a pass. He’s flipped it upside down. He’s now 91.

    • then you are not a Leaf fan as this player could not play defense to save his life at MINUS 10 after 16 games give me a break. Leafs need a defensive Dman that can shut down the opposition and you think this guy is the solution LMFAO. Leafs already have a boat load of players just like him.

  162. There is 0% chance Marner moves as a favour to the team. He got a FULL NMC because he wants to be a lifetime Leaf and have the power during negotiations.

  163. Wrong Buffalo and Dallas aren’t linked to Patrick Kane, Both are out of the running, It’s down to Detroit and Florida.

  164. this is made up nonsense

    its not a blockbuster

dumba is nowhere close to the player he was

1 new player isnt going to help the oilers, especially one like dumba.

and oilers just gave connor brown $4mil and last season camplbell $25mil and nurse $74mil. oilers have proven they cant handle a cap.

time to make up another trade

  165. go for huberdeau i liked zadorov , for girard and someone else extra and for defence try bring carlo from the bruins home to colorado get rid of johnston

  166. tavares nylander reilly is the half team /money/get rid of them and couple other minor players and get mcdavid for once if they ever thinking of getting a cup.

  167. So wat they need is to get some defence and once tavarres contract is up spread the money around getting some third and forth line improvement instead of one 12 mil player they need depth Third and forth lines need to up their game dramticly Some stay at home big defence maybe two guys like Tanev and Zadorov And the cups will come Thats a fact jack

  168. This scenario could happen. Tavares $11 million will be off the books, Nylander quite possibly will not be with the Leafs. Have a core three of Matthews, McDavid and Marner. The triple M line!

  169. Ahahahahhahahahahahahahhaha… that’s the funniest trade “rumour” I have ever heard. That woyld NEVER happen. If they can afford Nylander, no way they can. Afford McDavid without getting rid of half the team.

  170. I can totally see this happening in a few years. Tavares’ salary will be off the books and Marner or Nylander will no longer be on the team.

  171. Marner will not be traded before Nylander. He is much more valuable than Nylander considering that he flirts with 100 points each season and is their best penalty killer.

  172. Nylander has been the most consistent player on the Leafs for years now, the fans and media has to get in their heads. just because he sat out most of a season for a contact deal, Marner sat out 20 games for his. I don’t see fans and media giving him a hard time, last season Sheldon changed Nylander and Tavares line to accommodate Mathews and Marner because they were not preforming. The fans and media have blind eyes. Nylander has set a team record this year so far, and been consistent…. Mathews has 3 hat tricks and Marner…..? and inconsistent.

Trade Nylander like Kadri and get rid of Babcock, you still have nothing, so obviously the fans and media have no idea what they are looking at.

Leafs need defensive dept like Babcock was trying to do.

  173. I wish all these so-called NHL “insiders” would do some digging and expose the truth. So far all they are doing is putting out click-bait stories

  174. Will this be another Cam Neely blunder?
Hopefully not the core Vancouver Canucks have now has potential just a few more tweaks to add size and grit players on short term then reload again and again ?

  175. Just too many soft goals with Samsonov. Woll is legit number one.
Jones is a very good back-up. Brodie is a liability defender. Do the deal
